Little Mix claim their first ever number one album

Congratulations are in order for Little Mix, who have officially claimed their first ever UK number one album.

Glory Days shot to the top of the charts this week, with just over 96,000 combined sales. Beating Bruno Mars and Metallica to number one, their album is also the second fastest-selling release of the year, behind David Bowie’s Blackstar.

The success of Glory Days does not end here either. It has achieved the highest first week sales for a UK girl group since Spice Girls’ Spiceworld, which opened with 192,000 copies in 1997. It is also the fastest-selling number one album by ANY girl group in 15 years. The last girlband album to hold this title was Destiny’s Child’s Survivor in 2001.

Perrie, Jesy, Jade and Leigh-Anne are also now the X Factor winners with the most chart-toppers to their name, thanks to the album and its lead single ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ hitting number one.

The delighted Little Mix girls shared their gratitude and celebrations on their Twitter account.

We say it all the time but we really do have the BEST fans in the world & we ? you to the ? and back! LET THE #GLORYDAYS ROLL? the girls x pic.twitter.com/UHaUOAeyig
