Footage reemerges of 'classless' Eagles fans destroying 49ers couple with wall of snowballs

No matter what happens on Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers face the Eagles in Philadelphia, it probably will not get as bad as it did in 2009.

Donovan McNabb, DeSean Jackson, Andy Reid and the Eagles won 27-13 on December 20 of that year, with Philly earning an NFC playoff spot after beating the 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field.

But that wasn't the biggest story.

Two helpless San Francisco fans were pelted with snowballs back in '09. And pelted. And pelted.

The deluge of snowballs became so bad that the seated San Francisco fans were forced to leave their section near the field.

An Eagles steward escorted the under-fire couple out of harm's way and to safety.

"This is why everyone in the league hates the Eagles fans," wrote one fan in a reply to the video on the 'NFL on Fox' TikTok page.

Another wrote: "I have a lot of respect for the team, but the fan base is probably the only reason I root against them."

"Typical Eagles fans - no class," a third fan said.

Yet even that didn't stop the lopsided snowball war that broke out 14 years ago during an Eagles vs 49ers game in Philly.

The bitter rivalry will resume Sunday when the 10-1 Eagles face the 8-3 Eagles in a 2022 NFC Championship rematch.

McNabb threw for a touchdown and ran for a TD in the 2009 home win, while Jackson had 140 receiving yards.

Those Eagles were 10-4 at the time.

Reid's squad eventually fell to Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC Wild Card game.

But the Eagles were big Week 15 winners in 2009 and Philly fans indulged in the victory over the 49ers, which occurred after kickoff had been delayed for three hours following a historic snowfall.

A total of 23.2 inches of snow fell in Philadelphia the day before the win over San Francisco, according to the Associated Press.

It's supposed to be cloudy on Sunday in Philly.

But no snow is predicted and it's not even supposed to rain.

The real battle will hopefully be decided on the field and not in the stands.
