Tim Brewster is rumored to have landed himself a new job. Brewster is set to join the Charlotte 49ers with Biff Poggi.
The Colorado Buffaloes displayed an abysmal performance on Saturday against the Utah Utes in a match that ended 23-17.
Following the loss, Buffs’ head coach, Deion Sanders, promised fans that some changes to the coaching staff would happen.
Consequently, Brewster took to Twitter (now X) to announce his resignation. However, the coach showed no animosity against his former boss and colleagues and wished everyone a successful career.
Tim Brewster, born October 13, 1960, is an American football coach, formerly the tight ends coach with the University of Colorado.
In addition to being a coach, Brewster was a former player, starting his career with Phillipsburg High School as a wide receiver and a tight end.
Brewster’s coaching career began as a graduate assistant at Purdue University under head coach Leon Burtnett in 1986. However, after getting fired mid-season, Brewster worked as a car salesman for a brief moment.
In 1989, Brewster convinced Mack Brown to hire him as an unpaid volunteer assistant with the University of North Carolina. The pair partnered up for 13 years, coaching at the University of North Carolina and the University of Texas.
After a short stint in the NFL, Brewster returned to college football with the University of Minnesota.
Since then, the veteran coach has served numerous college teams, including Mississippi State University, Jackson State, and the University of Colorado Boulder.

The news about a new job for Tim Brewster comes only a few days after the veteran coach announced his resignation from the CU Buffs.
Reports suggest the tight-end coach had been looking for opportunities in coaching. Consequently, when the Charlotte 49ers head coach Biff Poggi came knocking, Brewster didn’t hesitate.

Having coached numerous teams at UNC, Texas, Mississippi State, Florida State, Texas A&M, and Florida, Brewster was the appropriate choice for Poggi and the Charlotte 49ers.
Why Did Brewster Quit Colorado?
Brewster had finished only a year in a two-year deal with CU. However, a loss against UCLA on October 28 saw head coach Sanders make glaring changes to his coaching staff.
As a part of this change, Sanders promoted his analyst Pat Shurmur to the co-offensive coordinator role. Consequently, he had to demote someone to make room for Shurmur to shine.
Brewster, unfortunately, had to step down from his role, and in his final month with the CU Buffs, he served as an analyst.
Undoubtedly, for someone of Brewster’s stature, who is also one of the top recruiters in football, a minimized role in the team was not ideal for him.
Moreover, despite a short-lived time with the Buffs, his influence and impact on the development of Michael Harrison is undeniable.
Harrison, a walk-on convert to tight-end, was one of the key players for the Buffs, playing a significant role in their offense.
The 63-year-old deserved accolades and recognition for Harrison’s success. A demotion, most likely, rubbed off the wrong way for Brewster.
